How This System Works

This system applies to games where the team has an Elo rating 51.215 points above the opponent, a standard deviation of offensive points in the paint over their last 10 games greater than 13.674, and moneyline odds within 7.25 points of even (indicating underdog or near-even status). Together, these conditions identify games where a team rated higher than its opponent by Elo has shown variable scoring in the paint recently and is not heavily favored by the betting markets.

Backs teams with a significant Elo rating advantage (over +51 points), high offensive consistency (standard deviation of offensive points above 13.67), when favored by approximately one possession or less.
