How This System Works

This system applies to games where the starting pitcher has averaged 3.685 or fewer pitches per plate appearance over their last 10 games, the opponent has an Elo rating between 1420.515 and 1470.985, and the starting pitcher has a standard deviation of 1.1402 or lower in earned runs allowed over their last 5 games. These conditions identify matchups featuring a pitcher with consistent recent performance in limiting earned runs and maintaining efficient plate appearances, facing an opponent in a specific mid-range Elo rating band.

Targets teams whose pitchers work deep counts (high pitches per plate appearance) facing opponents with Elo ratings between 1421-1471 and consistent recent earned run performance.
